  • Inhuman conditions in Turkish prisons: Call to release 544 ill prisoners

    09.04.2014 | At present there are 544 prisoners critically ill in Turkish prisons according to reports of the Human Rights Association İnsan Hakları Derneği (IHD) and Türkiye Insan Haklari Vakfi (TIHV). 163 of them are in life-threating conditions. The Minister of Justice recently stated that 2300 prisoners had died in the last 13 years.Dear Prime Minister R.T. EU citizens of Turkish and Kurdish origin have been waiting a long time to see Turkey as an integral part of the European Union. While friendly relations with EU governments are positive for Turkey, they are no substitute for fully-fledged and sustainable political integration to the European Union."
